چکیده

EVALUATION OF AN INDIRECT ELISA FOR DETECTION AND TYPING OF FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE VIRUS. An Indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit was used for diagnosis of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) types O1, A24, C3 which occurred in Rio Grande do Sul State, Southern Brazil during 1984-1994. The samples were randomly selected and tested by ELISA, Complement Fixation Test (CFT) and in tissue culture. Out of 106 samples 78 (73,5%) were positive by ELISA and 39 (36,8 %) were found positive in CFT, when original suspensions were used. Once these samples were inoculated onto tissue culture both tests gave similar results, although ELISA picked up more positive samples during the 1st passage in tissue culture. The negative samples (16) included in this study were negative in all tests. The ELISA was more sensitive than and as specific as CFT. ELISA and tissue culture together were shown to be a better system for detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus antigen than CFT.

Development of an Indirect Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay to Detect Antibodies against Serotype A2013 of Foot and Mouth Disease Virus in Cattle

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a contagious animal disease that causes irreparable damage to the economy of countries, including Iran in which this disease is a native one. Among the ways to combat FMD are vaccination and slaughter. Due to the specific situation of Iran, it is not possible to kill infected animals. Therefore, vaccination is the most important way to fight this disease. S...

The transient expression of coat protein of Foot and Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) in spinach (Spinacia oleracea) using Agroinfiltration

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is a very dangerous livestock disease which causes a serious loss in the production of milk and meat. Therefore, producing an effective recombinant subunit vaccine virus this disease is of great importance. Transient gene expression is a valuable tool to reach rapid and acceptable recombinant vaccine. An Agrobacterium-mediated transient gene expression assay was car...

Assessment of Foot and Mouth Virus Subtype O2016 Genetic Alterations During Successive Passages in BHK Monolayer

Abstract : Foot and Mouth Disease is one of  the important live stocks contagious viral disease caused by Aphtovirus genus ,  that is belong to family RNA virus  picornaviride. The important characteristic of FMD virus is high mutation that give rise to diversity of Antigen in surface of Neutralizing proteins. For this reason FMD virus have 7 distinct serotype and many subtype. Vaccination is o...

Establishment of a typing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for foot and mouth disease antigen, using reagents against viruses endemic in Thailand.

Antisera were produced at a central laboratory in Thailand against the endemic serotypes (O, A and Asia 1) of foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus. At a regional veterinary laboratory, these antisera were used in an indirect sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection and serotyping of FMD virus (FMDV) antigen. ELISA readings of < 0.10 optical density (OD) units were cons...
